Summary
Smallish machine (like a medium pizza) with SCSI and Firewire. Everybody's favorite bus tech.
Notes
- Case fan has a zalman speed controller attached
- CPU fan has a resistor speed reducer
- SSD lacks a proper mount, using adhesive velcro strips
- Board is a stripped down variant. No CF slot, MiniPCIE, or Audio. Also short 2 serial ports on the IO panel.
- AHCI for SATA seems to cause the BIOS to hang.

A little bus server
I found this little box on ebay. It had a low power, but still 64-bit CPU, and PCI expansion. For some reason it came with a wifi adapter and NIC rather than any of the phone cards that Openscape usually installs.
Anyway I decided this would make a nice legacy connection device. So it received my two favorite interfaces SCSI, and Firewire.
At some point I swapped the AHA-39160 for a LSIU160. It just has a single bus with internal/external 68-pin HPDB connectors.
Rattling case
The case lid rattles. I found taping the hidden inside edges with polyimide tape is a good fix. It is thin enough not to compromise fit, but tighten things up a bit. It still slides easily, and is pretty abrasion resistant. It also really cuts down on metal sliding on metal noises, great for enclosures like the AKiTiO PCIe box.
