Some PICMG
PICMG is cool. This one was cheap. I don't actually have a reason to own a Core 2 Duo system with PCI and ISA slots.
This one has some things I don't like:
- Advantech stuck a noisy 92mm fan on the intake of the IPC-6066 chassis.
- The PCA-6011 SBC has stiffeners along the edge connectors, but then it is unsupported next to the CPU heatsink so it has a good bend in it.
- It is pretty heavy due to the thick steel case.
Currently it boots Windows 7 Embedded, and it seems to be a Chinese localized version.
None of my DDR3 RAM sticks would POST in this thing so it is stuck on 4GB.
I put a Rocketfish RF-51SDCD 5.1 sound card in it.
Things I might do:
- Trade out all the fans (92mm intake, something CPU, 80mm PSU)
- PCI video card with HDMI out
- GPIB ISA card for playing with test equipment
- Maybe get some SDI video capture cards to play with. I looked at Aja Xena SD.
