Ebay purchase
Bought on ebay. Described as very good condition, fully working, and 57 battery cycles. MagSafe charger included. Auction didn't have a "on" photo, but based on description and external condition it seemed like a good machine.
Received machine seems very good indeed. Externally some extra sticker residue that wasn't in photos (possibly out of focus), but fortunate to find such an old machine with little usage and wear.
OS Install
Did a High Sierra (10.13) install from usb. Decided to transfer my external install settings from a firewire ssd. Process was slow. I went to bed with a 22 hour estimate, but it was done in the morning. Rather impressed with macOS' migration assistant. A few things to redo, but most stuff just worked.
I ran into some issues with homebrew builds so I updated to Mojave (10.14). Still has 32-bit support, and I get dark mode. Should have used it to start with.
